    Overview/Learning Outcomes:  Patient demand for tooth-coloured restorations in their posterior teeth has been rising steadily for the past 25 years, partly because of increased patient awareness of dental aesthetics, but also because of anxieties regarding mercury-containing restorations in their teeth. This has been given increased impetus following the Minamata Agreement in 2013 and the phasing out of amalgam production in the EU from 2025.  This presentation will discuss the reported problems with “posterior composites”, including how to avoid the problems of post-op sensitivity and defective contact points, and the factors which may influence the success of “posterior composite” restorations.
