Avijit is Professor of Cariology & Operative Dentistry / Hon. Consultant in Restorative Dentistry at FoDOCS, KCL & GSTT, London, UK. He is a world authority in his discipline, carrying out pioneering lab-based, translational and primary care clinical trial research (recognised by the William H Bowen Caries Research Distinguished Scientist Award bestowed upon him by the IADR in 2022, >160 peer-reviewed publications, >£2.5 million research grants, 22 doctorate students), educating at UG, PG and specialist levels (director of his acclaimed distance-learning masters in Advanced Minimum Intervention Resorative Dentistry at KCL, for primary care-based dentists and dental therapists), author of several globally respected textbooks (including his latest from Elsevier (2024) - A Clinical Guide to Advanced Minimum Intervention Restorative Dentistry, the successor to Pickard's Guide...), maintaining clinical practice in hospital and practice settings as well as providing national level professional policy advice to the BDA, NIHR, CGDent and the OCDO.
