Rakhee Patel
Rakhee is Deputy Chief Dental Officer England, and is also a clinical academic working as a Senior Clinical Lecturer and Honorary Consultant at Kings College London.
Rakhee qualified from Cardiff University in 2006, and has since worked across general dental services, community, hospital and academia, with a clinical focus on gerodontology and domiciliary care. To pursue a career in Dental Public Health she completed a master’s in dental public health in 2010 and commenced an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellowship and Specialist Training post training in Bristol and London.
From 2016- 2024, Rakhee worked as a Consultant in Dental Public Health at Public Health England / NHSE England alongside her role at King’s College London. In 2023, Rakhee was awarded a PhD in Health Services Research, having secured an NIHR Doctoral Research Fellowship Grant to undertake one of the first dental clinical trials in care homes. Rakhee has a strong focus on education and has held undergraduate and postgraduate teaching roles throughout her career and is currently the Dental Public Health undergraduate lead at KCL. Nationally, she is an examiner for the Oversees Registration Examination and the Royal College of Surgeons England Intercollegiate Specialty Fellowship Examination.
Rakhee is impact driven, and her chief areas of interest academically and in service are prevention of oral disease, innovation in care delivery and the integration of oral health across health and social care with a focus on healthy ageing.
