Trevor Burke

F.J.Trevor Burke DDS, BDS, MSc, MDS, FDS, MGDS RCS (Ed), FDS RCS (Eng), FCG Dent, FADM

Trevor Burke graduated at Queens University Belfast. Following appointments in Belfast and Manchester, he worked in general dental practice from 1975 to 1996 in Manchester and at the University of Manchester.  His first Chair was in Glasgow in 1996, becoming Professor of Primary Dental Care at the University of Birmingham/Hon. Consultant in Restorative Dentistry in 2000, before retiring in October 2020. 

Trevor is (co-) author of 370 papers published in peer-reviewed journals, and three books and 70 research grants.  His principal research interests are in the translation of in vitro research on dental materials into the clinic. He also is engaged in work on restoration survival, using a database of 13 million restorations/16 years. As well as research, writing and medicolegal work, Trevor's main responsibility is as Editorial Director of the journal Dental Update.
