Mike Lewis

Mike is Emeritus Professor of Oral Medicine at Cardiff University.  He has held a number of senior professional positions including, Dean of the School of Dentistry at Cardiff University, Dean of the Dental Faculty of the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Glasgow, President of the British Society for Oral Medicine and President of the British Society for Oral & Dental Research.  Mike has published over 200 scientific articles, authored six medical textbooks and delivered more than 800 invited lectures worldwide.  He was editor for the Mouth Cancer Themed issue of the British Dental Journal.

He has worked in the field of mouth cancer for more than 40 years. During this time Mike has regularly lectured on the importance of early cancer diagnosis to the dental professional at national events, including annual meetings of BDA, BSDHT, BADT and BDIA.  In addition, he provides mouth cancer teaching for Dental Foundation Training schemes and UK meetings of Proconferences.  He has produced online educational material on mouth cancer for the Wiley Knowledge Hub (Europe), HEIW (Wales) and NES (Scotland).
