Matt Jerreat
Matthew Jerreat took up his role as Regional Chief Dentist for NHS England South West on 1st November 2024.
The Regional Chief Dentist role is an employee of NHS England, accountable to the South West NHS Medical Director, Michael Marsh. The role includes providing clinical leadership and support not only within the NHS England regional team and the South West Collaborative Commissioning Hub, but also to all stakeholders and the seven ICBs within the region.
In this new role, Matthew will be working to deliver improved outcomes for patients and overseeing dentistry in the region, supporting the national dental recovery plan and a wider local recovery plan which includes local specific ICB workplans. He will also be supporting workforce training and education to make the South West an attractive place to live and work.
Matthew trained at Bristol Dental Hospital and has a Pharmacology degree. With 17 years of experience at Somerset Foundation Trust, Matthew is still actively a consultant at Musgrove and has previously been Local Dental Network Chair for the South West, working with the Dental Networks and Local Dental Committees and our Regional Medical Directorate.
He will continue working collaboratively with the managed clinical networks, building on already strong links as well as supporting regional clinical leads in ICBs and working with local dental committees and all other stakeholders.
