Linda Greenwall MBE

Dr Linda Greenwall a 3rd generation dentist, born in Cape Town, South Africa. Graduated from Wits Dental School in 1984, moved to the UK in 1985 to continue her field of dentistry.  Undertook a Membership in General Dental practice and was awarded the prize for the top graduate.

After completing my Masters in Conservative dentistry with research into tooth whitening, I discovered a passion for minimally invasive dentistry. Authored 4 textbooks on the subject, my first book has been translated into 5 different languages and was awarded best new Dental and medical book in 2001.

In 1989 I started my lecturing career and have been all over the world presenting my knowledge and scientific research on tooth whitening and minimally invasive dentistry. Due to her ongoing lecturing, Linda is a honorary lecturer at Kings College London. UWC in Cape Town and Haddasha dental school in Israel.

In 2012, I decided I wanted to give back to dentistry and the community by establishing the Dental Wellness Trust, a non-profit Charity in the UK and the Dental Wellness Foundation in South Africa. Focussing on raising dental awareness, improving oral health and dental wellness in less fortunate children and communities. This is mainly achieved through training, educating and introducing innovative supervised tooth brushing programmes, which has been called LiveSmart. LiveSmart is helping over 25,000 children in the townships of South Africa and over 25,000 in nursery and school children in UK.

In 2017 awarded a British Empire Medal (BEM) for my services to Dentistry and Charity in the UK and Abroad. This was present by Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London, Sir Kenneth Olisa OBE and attended the Queens Garden party in June 2018 at Buckingham Palace to celebrate this accolade. This has since been followed up with a MBE in December 2025, presented by HRH Princess Anne at Buckingham Palace for my services in community dentistry.

In 2020 I worked with a group of female dentists whom wanted to improve the work balance for female dentists. We set up an organisation called Women Dentists Network, to support female dentists following on from the original organisation established in 1985 called Women in Dentistry as one of the founding members.

This has been accomplished whilst running a multi-disciplinary, Private Specialist Dental Practice in London, continuing to lecture both in the UK and Internationally, undertaking research, writing books, dental articles, editing a journal, and raising four sons, one whom followed in her foot steps to become a dentist. I am also a grandmother to two grandchildren.
