The British Association of Dental Therapists was formed in 1962 when the first dental therapists qualified in the UK, and had their first AGM in 1963. From those early days with restrictions in places of work and a more limited scope of practice, BADT had led the profession through a series of developments and advancements, including the introduction of ID blocks and primary pulp therapy, working without a dentist on the premises, working in general dental practice and then Direct Access.
