Antibiotics are meant to help, aren’t they?

Saturday, October 19, 2019 13:00 - 13:45

Aims

To increase understanding about the consequences (to health, society and the environment) of antibiotic use in dentistry.

Objectives

  • To recognise that whilst most dentists are lower prescribers, some high prescribers need support to reduce risk to themselves and their patients.
  • To feel confident when having 'that conversation' with patients and their families about why antibiotics aren't necessarily necessary.
  • To support and feel supported by their practice reception team to reduce antibiotic prescribing as they manage patient expectations from first contact.
  • To get involved in research in the future
